  1. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

  2. He was a free agent so he could go ever he decided to go that would take him. He chose Detroit because he wanted to go to a cup contender and he straight out said that pittsburgh wasn't one. After his year there, as long as he has another good season, he'll probably be offered a large contract from Detroit, for the same reasons pittsburgh tried to get him back, hes good.

  3. I don't care about how they got him, I'm just disgusted that he signed with a team that he had to fight with to win the cup. I remember the last 2 seconds of the game the Wings won, Hossa tried to score but the puck rolled off the crease. I can't believe he'd sign with them or that he'd turn down Edmonton's whopping offer.

  4. The guy's a competitor and wants to win.  As has already been said, he felt his best opportunity to win the cup is with Detroit.  If he wins it next season, then watch him jump all over an offer like the Oilers made.

  5. Well when he got beat in the cup. He thought wow i just lost so he scratch his head and said sign me detroit.

    GO REDWINGS

  6. They signed him to a legal NHL contract.

Jeez, some of you people have never heard the word "simplify". :b

  7. Hossa didn't want any long term deals and that's all he was getting offered. A Stanley Cup contending team - Wings - offered him a short term deal and he signed with them. What else can we say.

  8. They didn't "Get away" with anything, he wanted to be there and they made a deal, it's as simple as that.  When you have an organization as good as Detroits you can make these things happen, it's nothing underhanded it just the way it is.  How often do you hear anything but good things about the organization from the players?   Players know what to expect there and they want to go there for the opportunity to win the Cup and play in a positive environment.

  9. That's nothing - he turned down $80 million from the Oilers...

  10. idk but im excited WELCOME TO HOCKEYTOWN HOSSA!!!

  11. hossa wants to win a cup before h signs a big deal with a less competive team

  12. And I quote:

"I know I could get more money somewhere else, but the thing that I was looking for for myself was to win the Stanley Cup." - Marian Hossa

  13. signed him

  14. it's not just all about the Benjamins. it's about who's signing the check. i wouldn't skate for Therrien either, if i had the choice.

  15. They got HOSSA because HOSSA wanted to be in DET! Thats what it comes down to. Read Hossa's comments and he says that. He wants to be a RED WING and thats why he is there.

He felt that 7.45mil in DET was a better option  than 9.5mil in EDM and 7mil for 5 yrs in PITT. He wants to win the CUP and he thinks DET gives him the best chance, or that he can help give DET a great chance at repeating.
