How did doing drugs even start?

Uhhh, a few things:  1) Since women did all the planting and gathering, and most of the healing and midwifery, folks, it was more than likely a GIRL that found out about the psychoactive substances of plants the first few thousand times...Sorry boys.  Doubtful you can claim that one as your own...2) People learned a LOT from watching animals and insects.  3)  Some plants literally advertise their effects and uses, you just have to know how to look and to listen.  4)  There is always the old method of "Try it and see what it does..."  This is called "proving a remedy", and it's a method that's been used by humans before the beginning of recorded time.  Also, imagine there's a forest fire, and you inhale the smoke...what happens next?  Not such a mystery after all, is it?  Or imagine you're out in the forest watching all the animals, and taking careful note of them and all they do.  Not such a mystery now again, is it?

Cocaine, by the way, is South American in origin, not African (that I'm aware of anyway...so somebody please reeducate me if I've missed something here...anybody ever heard of the Medellin Cartel before?  It was in Central and South American, b/c that's where cocaine or the coca tree is native, once again, NOT Africa...)

Actually, most burned herbs actually started by people chewing them. Back in the 1700s and 1800s, Tobacco leaves were very commonly chewed for their energy and appetite suppression (while people were in the fields working, so they didn't have to come in as early). There were a number of drugs that started out that way including Opium (chewing/eating poppy seeds).

Ok.....sum guy found a weird plant in his garden, he asked his son to burn it, he burned it, the boy loved the smell, and went out to the field at night to find more. He took sum in the morning to show his friends, and the boy told his friends to burn it, they burned it, and they loved the smell, and at night they all went to the field to find more....thing is, they couldnt find any and went crazy.

Thats what I was told that happend....

It actually started in china with all there herbs and stuff but i have suspicion of Africa because theres this old kingdom that used to be called Kush a type of weed and there capital mariway,.. like marijuana. and that is where the Rastafarian religion began.. and there religion is pretty much to stay high your whole life off pot. ALSO cocaine.. is a plant that was chewed by Africans when they went high in the mountains.. it used to be used as a pain killer to.. and tobacco was just chewed.. and lsd was found by a scientist in Europe.. well he created it..
