I didn't put anything about batch processing or immobilisation either...didn't see anything about that. I put that fermentation created ethanol int he credit I don't think it asked anyhting about how mixed the enzymes up...but anyway

  1. Both General and credit was hard. In the credit there wasnt much about the body. - no bones , no brain , no muscles, no heart, no eye or ear.

Ohh how i would have loved them to come up !. Just my luck.

To the person below : sorry forgot your name:)

: about the ticky box leaf question.

Eeny meany miney mo came in handy haha. I just ticked a variety.

Yeh i put mucus - and that cilia beat back and fourth to sweep

    mucus upwards.

I cant remember the one bout the control sorry.

Questions i can remember :  Number one was about beating a tree with a stick. there was something bout food web, food chain and biomass. dimples, barley question.

  2. I found it way harder than usual, and I'm so worried I've done badly... feeling even worse now that I've seen what everyone else has put because I didn't get the same for anything! Eeek. I know I've lost at least 5 marks; I just hope I've not lost too many more than that.

I didn't mention batch processing or immobilisation at all and my ratios were different...and just, ahhhh.

  3. I just came into the exam hall and there it was, sitting on my desk.

  4. I was really gutted!

I studied all the parts of the body and leanerd their functions, and i studied plant structure and things aswell.

The only thing i didn't study was fermentation and it came up in both papers!

Ahwell, thats what i get for leaving all my revision for the night before haha!

  5. I thought the general was easy but was ill during credit and can't remember much of the questions. I think I passed but lets compare answers??

For the question about trapping dirt I got mucus and spoke about cilia pusing it up into the oesophogus down into the stomach and destroyed by the acids there.

What did you say were the conditions for the control??

Any other ones you can remember??

This is a response to Scarlet

    The 5 test tubes

I said neither for the one that was covered, then respiration for the one that was boiled, both for the variageted leaf and both for the one that had nothing done to it...What did you put??

What about that one where you had to describe the control??

The variables that you'd keep the same??

your ratios? I got 2.5:1 and 1:3 or something, the inheritence ration 1:3 too and inhertinence I thought was okay. I hated biotechnology. What cell did you say made the ethanol, I said yeast because none of the other raw materials are cells...??

I just remembered loads there! lol

I know what you mean about forgetting things! I couldn't remember the respiration equation! lol

    Speak soon??

P.S. loved you cerebrum thing..clever that is!

What other exams did you do?

Sure you done great though. :o)

This is for 1RFL..Or whatever your id is, sorry I can't remember :oS

I didn't put immobilisation, I forgot all about that..hmmm Thats sound right aswell!! I put sterilise the fermenter to ensure no foreign bacteria is in it and so it works only on the desired bacteria. Thats wrong I know! I am also aiming for a 1. I haven't ever got anything lower!! I am terrified!!

For the weed killer one I said

benefit- avoids the use of pesticides

negative- it may become resistent to weed killer and become a 'superweed'. I don't know if thats right..??

The boiled leaf would not photosynthesise because by boiling it you get rid of the green pigment, I don't know where it goes but a boiled leaf is white so it wouldn't be able to absorb light to photosythesise.

What did you (or anybody) put for the concentration thing of the sugar solution? You had to predict 3.5 or something...

Also on another question you had to say when the glucose would be used up...How many hours later...I said half an hour but there was space for working so that confused me...

What did everybody put for the leaf question where you hit the tree or something?

I said that it was random and therefore you wouldn't necessarily get all species from the tree...

This is for Kelsey Did I spell that wrong? Sorry!!

Don't worry about the ratios, I don't know if I got them right. What did you get??

    What answers did you get?

What did you get on the percentage increase thing??

We will all have passed I am sure of it ;o)

This is great, thank you everybody.

I intend on going and getting the marking scheme made by teacher this week so I'll post the answers when I get it.

  6. To allantwi...,

I found the credit quite hard,  just realised that I've lost atleast 2-4marks!<eek> For the leaves one I put down neither for the covered leaf, both for the variegated and normal leaf but I put down photosynthesis for the boiled leaf as the cells would have been destroyed when boiled? Would they not? But it still had chlorophyll in it so I just wrote photosynthesis. Very hard question that was! The passage one was hard also, I could not find the answer to the weedkillers benefits and problems. What did you put down? I nearly ran out of time which was why I had to rush the last graph quetsion(not the pie chart), so that is where I lost atleast 2 marks!

I'm aiming for a one. I just hope I managed to achieve the one! Did you write Immobilisation for anything or Batch Processing(the one about how people can ensure that the enzymes mix with the raw materials?) I first wrote down a whole para on batch processing and then crossed it all out and wrote Immobilisation instead! Really don't want the results! Ever! (Very scared)

Would the leaf not be able to photosynthesise?(eek, another mark lost)  But I thought that the chlorophyll was only lost when you boiled the leaf in ethanol?(I'm probably wrong tho')That's why I chose the photosynthesis one, but I did not choose repiration for that one because I thought enzymes were needed to respire in plants and convert the glucose and O2 to CO2 and H2O, and so I thought that the enzymes would become denatured and so no respiration would occur.( Wow I think alot during the exams, thats probably why I

always run out of time at the end and have to rush the last few questions, silly me)

You got round about the same as me for the weedkillers one, but I never mentioned superweeds, all I said was that it would be very difficult to kill/destroy the plants and for the useful one, I wrote that  the insects would not be able to harm the crops(but I probably lost a mark or two for that one)

For how long it would take the glucose to finish(or something), the answer was 5 hours but I did something really stupid for that one, instead of reading the number of hours on the x-axis, I looked at the gradient of the glucose and calulated  2.5 hours. ( So silly, but that was the question which I had to complete in like 2 seconds,  I had still to do the last page and had less than 5 min left)

For the tree beating question, I wrote that some inhabitants of the trees would have wings and so when the tree was hit, they would be able to fly away. What abiotic measurement did you choose? I just chose light intensity using a light probe or something. What did you write for the two things that should be kept constant fot beating the tree? I wrote stupid things for that; how long u beat the tree for and the force at which the tree was beat(see, very stupid!)

You had to predict the distance the sugar travellled due to osmosis of water when the sugar conc. was at 3.5. I predicted 31.5 mm(I think). But I thought the one about explaning the movement of sugar due to water concentration was hard. What did you write for that one? Now that I think about that one, the lower the concentration the water, the further the movement of sugar due to more water moving into the glass tube due to osmosis, but this was completely different from what I wrote!!! Does anybody know how many marks that was worth(please say one, and whether it was PS or KU?)

But on the bright side, today was my last exam!Yeah!

  7. I thought general was harder than credit, the general course seems a lot different.

In general my mind went blank when it came to the equation of photosynthesis, how bad is that!

I did the same for the mucus and cilli question.

What were the answers to the question where it was 5 test tubes with 5 leaves and you had to tick those boxes?! aargh

    Hope we've all passed :)

    Bring on 5th year!

  8. I found the general quite easy but I've probably failed it :|

The credit it could not do at all i missed out 2 pages worth of ku :| But i could never do credit so... :P

But Its been all different with exams this year i think, Because When iv been doing past papers then you see the exam theres nothing in it i've studied for ( i mean for the credit)  :| Like with biology there was no ear, no eye, nothing do you with biology like the stuff were told to know i think it was mostly on biotechnology part in it i think can't really remember.

But just need to wait till august now, The joy in that :D

  9. God that exam was solid.

I actually found a lot of the general harder than credit..

There was so much stuff missed out.. eye, ear, reflex actions, skeleton, kidney (well there was like one thing).. the BRAIN. Barely anything on enzymes.

Jesus most of the stuff that I had revised a lot for wasn't in it.

I think the problem solving  was okay.. cos I'm quite good at maths and can do calculations and such but I definietly think I've failed KU... i hope to god i get like 1 in problem solving and at the very least a 4 in ku so i still get a credit pass.
