I'm doing h/w right now. I've read the section in my textbook about that, but the only mention of gender difference was that men that owned land were allowed to vote in Jamestown. Women, obviously, weren't. I'm most certain I need more than that to get full credit.

So, I'm asking for help. Would anyone have information about that? Thanks.

  1. The Jamestown colony was formed by men. For the most part all the people who settled there were merchants and entrepreneurs. Not many came over with their families. Plymouth was the complete opposite. It was founded by Puritains who, by religion, are extremely family oriented. Essentially, Jamestown had a very minimal population of women whereas in Plymouth women made up a much more significant part of the population. As for the societal difference, I think you should come up with this yourself as it is your homework. Hope this helps.

  2. i remember reading something about i believe was jamestown. i red something about many died because of mosquitos or winter or something of that nature, maybe smaller population and an inferior work force to farm the land and build etc.
