How did horses get over to the north america states?

  1. Brought by the Spanish to Mexico and other Guild regions. Many escaped, and the Spanish prompty forgot about them. The horses were able to fill a niche of a fast, agile grazer that operated in relatively small herds, and consequently flourished.

  3. Horses were brought by the Europeans, mostly Spanish and Portuguese in Mexico and the Southeastern US. Many of the horses escaped and were captured by the Native Americans who started their own breeding programs to produce breeds, such as the Pinto and Appaloosa. Some horses went completely feral and became the mustangs of the southwest.
