How did i get green eyes?

I have green eyes (we are unique)  both my parents have blue, as did my grandparents..  I think it's the wee bit of Irish showing through!!!!!!

There are times where eye colors tend to mix.  The same thing happened to me actually except my dad has brown and my mom blue. Usually you get a regular color, but i heard my science teacher say once that sometimes they do mix and i think green would be a result of brown/blue.

Blue is a recessive eye colour, Brown is a dominant one. So when these two colours mixed together when sperm and egg met and you became a zygote in your mums belly the brown genes were stronger than the blue ones, but not strong enough to completley take over the blue so you got green eyes.

Say if there are four genes in eye colour (i dont remember if this is accurate, just for arguments sake). If your mothers eye genes were three brown and one blue she probably has brown eyes, if your fathers genes are three blue and one brown he would have blue eyes. So what probably happened was that the sperm carried two blue eye colour genes and your mothers egg probably carried two brown coloured genes and then you got two blue genes and two brown genes for eye colour, which when mixed together created green eyes.

ANCESTORS or the chromosomes mixed and created green eyes. ur lucky to have them tho. I have green eyes and im great full everyday.
