i assume since several other people who always give wrong or ridiculous answers (yes cindeeee i'm talking about you) are 'toppp' too, it must be just on how many answers you manage to spew out, is it overall or in a given time span?

and how can i get rid of this horrid orange bar, it clashes with my hair!

  1. My best estimate is that they feel you rock.  Active involvement in a variety of forums, asking questions and providing feedback, and all with 81 "best answers" in the last month.  You ask good questions, even if they seem a little "softball-ish."  You're the kind of participant that Yahoo likes.

So my answer is that it is because Yahoo considers you a "Top Contributor."

You could also create another account (or two) so that you can get all the participation you want without the notariety.

  2. Top contributor is based on the number of 'best answers' you get.  You can lose your badge if you don't keep up a high enough pace.  For example, I just lost my alternative fuel vehicles top contributor badge because I haven't gotten enough best answers in that category recently.  Even though I have 123 more 'best answers' in the category than anyone else, I'm not a 'top contributor' anymore (though I am the only person ever to be a 'top contributor' in that category).

So basically the reason that certain low quality answerers get to be 'top contributors' is that their cohorts award them with enough 'best answers' to meet the criteria.

  3. Happened to me the other day too. I do not know how many you have to get 'best answer' for but obviously at some point they give you this orange accessory for it.

I actually find mine quite fetching but yes I can see your hair problem. You could always change your avatar I suppose ;)

Btw, thanks for the tip on getting more points. Must go see how that works :))

EDIT....Haha! Yes the avatar choice is underwhelming isn't it. Mine is a little younger than I am.....a lot possibly.

  4. Personally, I use this forum as an exercise in writing as much as helping others answer questions, mostly agriculture but other subjects also. It's a great way to meet people who have similar passions. Knowledge is to be shared, it does no good to hoard it like gold. As for votes, it's all very nice and I'm sure Yahoo figures it is a great way to get people to contribute. For me? I write and like to talk agriculture. It's enough without votes. If one knows a thing, or a number of things, and puts out enough answers, the votes come. If I were to write that many answers with the depth that I put into the majority, I would have no time to eat or sleep. you all can share the votes.

  5. Well you're tops in my book, LRG!

I've always been told the people with this just go to the unresolved questions tab and bang away.  I never heard of anybody before who got it legitimately.

Actually, orange may be your color....

I'm not recommending you do that LRG, I'm just saying I've always heard that's how people get it.  (if you're claiming innocence I won't argue).

Don't feel bad.  I tried it once too.  It was excruciatingly boring!

  6. idk thumb me up
