  1. Learn what type grass you will be cutting.

Find out the proper height to cut it.

Find out if it is the type grass that needs to be caught in a bag. Some grasses can be cut and left to re compost right there on the lawn.

I like to run the power push mower around all obstacles and bushes first. then start with the outside perimeter and cut in a direction that will deposit the grass on the already cut areas. After cutting round perimeter first then take the next smaller loop.

cut all the grass, then make diagonal passes   neatly across the first pass. the second pass will complete a clean cut and mulch any loose clippings. Took me several months to decide which way I liked best.

  2. It only took my mama telling to do it or get a whipping. LOL

  3. Lets see here, I was told I could go out and play with my friends as soon as I got the grass cut, I had it done in no time, But to do a really good job, well I am still learning. It takes trial and error

  4. Just make sure you don't cut it too short, or else the grass will turn brown & die on you; then, just pick yourself out a section * start at one end & go all the way around until you reach it again; then keep going like this; when done, pick yourself out another section, & repeat; do this until you're done.  It's much simpler, than starting on one end of the whole yard, & going around the whole thing, at a time.    If you try mowing forwards & backwards both, you're going to work yourself too death.

  5. I always seem to cut my lawn too short or too long, the best way is to set your wheels on your mower to leave the Grass about 4 in. high after cutting it.
