  1. It is the leading producer of sunflowers [and wheat].

    That's pretty much it.

    Wheat State just doesn't have the alliteration, so it's not as enjoyable a name.


  2. "Sunflower" state because **it's the most recognized flower there is across it's plains../crop**..that is resourceful..a big asset for oiling, cooking amongst other things. ....

    *has other nick names too, but this is the predominant one
