  1. It is a strange coincidence that the Arabic word meaning to die or death is the name of the ancient Egyptian goddess of judgement, truth and cosmic order, Ma'at.

The ancient Egyptians believed that one of the trials faced by those who died was to stand before Ma'at in the Hall of Judgement and have their heart weighed against the weight of a feather.

If the heart was too heavy then they would be tossed to the monster Amenait or "The Devourer", who would not only devour their flesh but also their "ka" the soul and their spirit double the "ba" .

This would mean annihilation a concept that to the ancient Egyptians was more terrifying than our concept of h**l.
