Dr. King was trained as a southern baptist minister, his non-verbal cues were cues he learned as he delivered his sermons from the pulpit.  He was a master of conveying the importance of what he was saying often times by saying nothing at all.  He was a very educated articulate man which is why he was feared by so many.......
