How did men in times past keep cool in heavy clothing?

They'd wear a wool or linen union suit, shirt, pants, vest, and jacket and tie with much of their clothing being made of heavy wool. How did they keep cool in summer?

  2. They didn't! Those times weren't really so much about comfort...more about survival.
