  1. Many like to think of that as a great change in Humans.  People lived very much like the plains Indians did before horses.  They, the plains Indians,  were very intelligent and had many of the same sort of customs and lifestyle associated with "modern" humans.  It is very likely that our ancestors were essentially the same but couldn't support the same number of people without extensive cultivation.


  2. most people were hunting and gathering bands. the neolithic revolution bought large groups of people to live with one another. this in turned created societies and the beginning of civilizations as we know it. Diets changed greatly too. People went from a greatly varied diet (mostly foods that they could gather with meat whenever it could be captured), to diets high in starches.concentrated populations in turn facilitated the ability of disease to spread rapidly through populations as well. So there were some pluses and  lots of negatives.

  3. Before the neolithic revolution there were nomadic hunting and gathering communities and bands.
