  1. Usually, because the linkage is adjusted wrong and the clutch is never fully engaged. Or, some idiot at the dealers was racing the bike all over the place and burnt the clutch up. Never buy a demo or repo from a bike dealer.

  2. I would take it back to the dealer and have them answer the same question. Sounds like a defect or the previous owner abused the c**p out of it.

They should repair it at no cost to you. The cost depends on the brand, around $65-100 should buy you new friction plates.

  3. It's gotta still be under warrantee. take it back and demand they fix it for free or give you a full refund.

  4. simple warranty issue

if you did not tinker with the adjustment

    a no-brainer

and yes, clutch plates can flake and dissolve just like that

  5. Probably is the adjustment.

Go back to dealer and get it fixed for free.

  6. Depending on the bike it might have the wrong oil in the case or the adjustment was off tear it apart and see, after seeing if the dealer will fix for free. if not do it your self but before buying new friction plates take the old ones out and if there really smooth and shiny rub them on smooth cement to take the glaze off and it will probably be fine.
