How did my phone dial 911 by itself?

ok so i woke up to a police officer at my door this morning. he said there was a 911 call from my house and when they tried calling back there was a busy signal. the only ones home were me and my brother and we were both sleeping. my brother checked all the phones in the house and they all made a weird sound like it was disconnected and said the line was in use...even though it wasn't. the cop said maybe lightning hit something and that's why the phone won't work...but why and how did it call 911???

 Faults on your phone line can call 911 randomly, its not as rare as you would think. Call your phone company to repair.

Call your phone company - something is wrong with your line.  This happened to me 4 weeks ago and then yesterday at 7 pm and this morning at 3:00 am.  The phone company is sending someone to repair the outside phone line - AT&T
