How did my snail's die water food but they did have white spot's before they died?

hi my snails had like 27 baby's so we put them in a medium size tank so i was at my friends house and when i got home my mom told me all my snails died that there was all Orange mold on them

Sounds like ICK a fungal disease that affects fish and snails.  There is an OTC remedy for it.
