How did people used to do mix tapes?

I want to learn how to make a mix tape. You know with a TAPE?

when I was little I used to record songs from the radio onto a tape and that is how I did it with a TAPE. But I was like 6 and that is all I had because it was my grandma's that I was using. But I think that is really all you can do without a CD. I'm not sure. Why don't you just make a mix CD? you can download songs and then put a blank CD in your computer and then put them on there through a song program.

get a stereo with a tape deck, well 2 if you're making the mixed tape off of other tapes.  buy some blank tapes.

put in the CD/tape of the song you want to record.  press play on that at the same time as record on the tape deck with the blank tape.  repeat for all other songs.

its a long and tedious project.
