How did rogue get the white streak in her hair?

How did rogue of x-men get that white steak in her hair. It is bugging me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

I wouldn't say it was the machine that gave her the white strip of hair.  In real life, when people have a patch or strip of white hair, it means that something truely devestating and or shocking happened in their life to where it's just that kind of chemical reaction that happens in the brain that makes the hair do that.  I mean, whatever event that happens to do that to someones hair, is taken as an emotional shock of some sort.  

So, it might be in that sense, with being a part of the machine, that turned a part of her hair white.  Not that the machine did it.  

In the comic books, the top portion of her hair is all white.  It was a visual trademark.  It might have evolved into just a stripe over the years.  It's been a while since I've been an X-men freak.  (and I'm -not- meaning the movies!)

In the first movie when she was plugged into the machine that magnito made it drained her energy and in result changed some of her hair to white.

Whether or not that happened in the comics idk...
