Is it because it helped keep the country straight?

Are there any other reasons?

  1. same as present day. the laws and rules helped preserve order and (some) peace. It helped Egypt become the great civilization it was back then.

    =)

  2. Rules and laws in any society are necessary for the regulation of behavior, for one. Laws also supply ethical standards and expectations, while providing rules of conduct, measures to enforce those rules, and a means for settling disputes. Rules and laws let the people know what is expected of them, how they are expected to behave in certain places and certain situations. When a society knows the function of each member, and are insured that there are ways to enforce the behavior of the population, they are more productive, happier, more co-operative. Thats the theory, anyway.

Egypt was a great civilization, and its rules and laws were partly responsible for the length of time that civilization lasted and the impact it had on other civilizations surrounding it.

  3. yes... the same as today..no other reasons than any other country has.
