Question:

How did scientist figure life started from fishes?

I believe in evolution, but I'm having trouble seeing how most living species today started from fish or fish-like creatures in the beginning.

How did scientist figure this? Or is this more of a theory?

What are some other theories? (Please don't put religion into this, I’m not looking for that)

  1. i heard life evolved from bacteria to algae to fish

  2. THey were at a New Years Eve party they got drunk and sed

"hey if tadpoles get legs wen they get older, then y da h**l cant evolution start that way 4 us"

"h**l he's rite lets ge tmore drunk"

evolution is a load of bull

  3. Like the others have said - life started from a single cell.

Scientists have followed traits and DNA to find common links.

It's not a "theory" in the sense that you use the term, (all science is theory), because it's widely accepted with countless supporting data

  4. No, not from fish but from a single cell organism.

  5. They found the proof from human embryo. There was a stage when you were a embryo, you were a fish then. But it's not the initial stage, who said it's the start of life?

  6. they didn't start in evolution.. if you don't know anything about something you shouldn't 'believe' in it.. that's called religion

there are mountain of tangible, testible, visible, and, quite frankly, irrefutable evidence in favor of evolution (which does not condescend or condemn any religion by any means)

life did not start at fish..

it started as a promodial sea full of organic compounds, many scientist suppose that 'life' began as simple as self-replicating organic material (RNA) that was later coholesed and engulfed to form larger and more complecated pseudocells untill they came to what we now consider true cells and the earliest bacteria.. from there it divereged into 2 forms, pro and eukaryotic.

prokaryotic cells remained simple and singular and descend into what are todays bacteria.

the eukaryotic cells, continued to multiply and evolve into the first multicellular forms of life.. which were most likely algeas..

around this time certain cellular lifeforms lost their chemosynthetic properties and began finding sources of evergy in different ways, the start of heterotrophic life..

these heterotrophic protists (as they would be classified today) eventually gave rise to what we call animals.. the first animals were simple and weren't really all that impressive.. the sponges.. only characterized by heterotrophic feeding and multicellularity.. the next advancement was to divided tissue layers and radial symmetry.. what we call cnidarians, which include anenomes and corals..

next were a series of evolutionary advancements, nerve ganglia, bilatteral symmetry, true coelems, etc

only towards the middle of the earth's history (single celled life was all there was for the first billion and a hlaf or so years of life) only about 1.5 billion years from today were there even mobile animals.. worm, echinoderms, arthropods, then came the chordates, about 1 billion years ago the first chordates weren't even fish, they were tiny worm like animals that only had the most basic features of chordate life..

sea squirts, lanclets, and THEN and only then did fish appear....

basically my point is that fish are geologically new and not in anyway ther first life on this planet..

hunk.. you totally pulled that out of your **** didn't you...

kaley.. can you prove it happened any other way?

    no?... then shut it

bailee..."it is basically impossible and if we did evolve from fish, fish should be gone"

why should fish be gone? evolution says nothing about replacing species... anywhere... and how would it be impossible..

saying something is impossibel, or wrong, or anything, means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SUPPORT IT!!

have you people even READ the origin of species?

  7. Life didn't start from fishes... they started from single cell bacteria...

Then the bacteria grew into multi celled organisms... then those grew nervese systems... then those turned into fish like creatures... then fins turned into legs... then gills turned into lungs...

there is proof of this through the fossil layers...

There is TONS AND TONS AND TONS of proof of this...

  8. They dug up fossils, and dated them in a timeline order. And yes, we DID start from fish-like creatures many millions of years ago. Some of them grew legs and ventured out onto land, which is why you able to sit by your computer and ask this question on Y! Answers.

    Hope this helped!

  9. Single cells first lived in water, when ultra-violet rays hit them and messed with their DNA then they began to evolve. The cells were already in the water so naturally they adapted to their suroundings or died.

  10. To our knowledge, water is the source of life. Without water, there can be no life. So, the first "building blocks" of life were small, simple single celled organisms who lived in water. As time moved on, these "building blocks of life" got more complicated, creating multi-celled aquatic species. Over more time these species branched out and created more diverse aquatic life. Over enough time, these organisms became things that you might associate as "fish like"

Over even more time, these building blocks grew more, and progressed to live off of land, where they continued to expand and develop into amphibians, and then reptiles, birds, and final mammals, to which humans evolved from.

  11. Life didn't start with fish, it started with a single cell.

  12. single celled organisms...and as far as proof for those naysayers  there is plenty and besides what proof at all do YOU have for Biblical origin of life   ZERO..stories told by men in a society that belived the earth was flat and the center of the Universe  and that demons caused disease.....so believe what you wish but do NOT tell me it is science ...yourbelief is no more science than astrology, voodoo, shamanism alchemy or tarot card reading

  13. well i personally dont think we started from fish at all i mean it is basically impossibel and if we did evolve from fish, fish should be gone

  14. life started from single cell organism not fish

  15. Electrical magnetic plasma gases evolved into hydrogen and then into oxygen and then water that then evolved into solid states of matter that spun from magnetic forces into different  sized spheres where the larger ones attracted smaller ones into a system. An atmosphere hung around the evolved spheres which were at an accompanying distance from other spheres that were so large that their electromagnetism and gravity created nuclear fission and emitted light. The atmosphere then rained water down onto the spheres and created oceans. The oceans  assisted the sand to evolve into vegetation and then into amoeba which then formed into worms and then into fish. Fish then evolved into amphibians and reptiles and then into birds.

  16. google it sweetie
