Someone joined our "unlisted" group because we accidentally left our "membership type" setting at "open" instead of "invite only". How could they find it in the first place if it's "not in the directory?" (They spammed our group!)

  1. many ways this can happen. they could had guessed at the name as they do e-mail addresses they spam. just form combinations and there ya go.

if a member forwarded a post to other's, they can get the address that way too. I see long strngs of addresses on forwards and all they are, is subjecting addresses to potential spammers. take a look at the adresses from a forward. changes are there's a group addresses within them.

however they located the group, spammer love open memberships. change it to restricted and moderate new members posts. solves the spam problem in just 2 group settings.
