  1. Shir Jawahar Lal Nehru was a good writer but was a very bad politician. He had no knowledge about world politics and was also very easy to please with buttering (Chaplusi). He had also risen to this position by buttering Gandhi (who was also found of buttering).

Knowing his habits this "art of pleasing" was used by China and panchsheel was signed. Indian army was asked to be relaxed and cool on China border (You know Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai slogan given by congress fools). But mean time China was preparing war against India. rest is History.

Arrogance of Nehru is also shown in Kashmir issue. Where India army took half Kashmir from Pakistan intruders Nehru stopped army in between with some of his foolish ideas and problem of Kashmir started.

Refuges from pakistan were initially planed to be settled in Kashmir. But here also Nehru objected that his Kashmir will be destroyed by these outsiders.

So it is not China that derailed Indians plan. Its its own Nehru whose most time passed with Lady Mountbatten not with Indian politics India lost so much land and pride.  Also problem of Kashmir is the gift of Nehru to India.

  2. The term Indo China is a geographical connatation for  Vietnam, Laos and Combodia collectively known as French Indo China.

The Sino-Indian border skirmishes have erupted into fullscale war in 1962 when india was totally unprepared. By then India was laying the foundations and in the midst industrialisation on a massive scale. 3 steel plants, one each at Bhilai with Russian help, Rourkela with German help and Durgapur with British help were taking shape as well as Heavy Engineering complex at Ranchi. Massive multi-purpose dams were completed or progressing notably at Bhakra & Nangal on River Satluj, Kotah barrage on River Chambal, Hirakud on River Mahanadi, Nagarjuna Sagar on River Krishna & Koyna on River Koyna for hydro-electricity. All this is but scratching the surface only.

As per the 1953 Avadi Congress resolution the Cogress party, which had no opposition to its rule at the center adapted Socialistic pattern of mixed economy with the center assuming a role of commanding heights of the economy and  was in full flow.

1962 threw a spanner in the congress plans and the works. There was an agonsising re-appraisal of the economy and manpower planning. First the armed forces needed a fresh look, to see that the 1962 rout of Indian Army will not recur. In the next round of 1965 Pakistan war Indian armed forces gave a good account of themselves displaying freshly discovered skills lifting their morale from despondency.

Indian institutes of tachnology were already established with aid from friends, at Madras/Chennai (Germany), Mumbai (Russia), Kanpur (America) and Delhi (Britain) and the fifth at Kharagpur with indigenous resources. Indian Institutes of managments have started functioning at Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta. This and a host of Engineering Colleges with programs for accelarated courses and shortened courses for science graduates (BSc) who missed the bus for the first time has boosted the manpower requirement so much there was a glut in the post war economic slowdown after the two wars 1962, 1965.

Pace of industrialisation was stepped up vigorously. Private enterprise that remained supine continued to remain supine. Some of them like Walchand Industries in aircraft building have already been nationalised as 'Hindustan Aircraft limited' (HAL) to dovetail the activity for the national purpose. USSR has lent a massive helping hand after their MiG 21 fighter was selected for the Indian Air Force, setting off massive industrialisation of factories at Nasik, Sunabeda (for Aero Engines) & Hyderabad. Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), Indian Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (IDPL) were some of the big ones already started. A string of fertiliser plants were started for agricultural sector. Thus the center (central government) went ahead with more determination and purpose.

Where was it derailed? If it is to be called that, it is in the financial management. In an effort to garner more capital banks were nationalised at the end of 60s decade. This massive effort needed huge oulays of capital that was not forthcoming in global market. World Bank and International Monetary Fund were approached and they lent on their terms. Excessive liquidity in Europe, Japan and America was funnelled through an effort called Aid India Club and India took utmost care to see that no strings were attached. This charitable exercise could have been replaced with investment in Indian industry but for the stand of socialistic economy of the government. Also while the western capital and indigenous industry were eyeing the consumer goods and infra structure, these were disallowed by the government that took over all economic activity like making and selling bread, milk, cloth, transport, steel etc, either by itself or through cooperatives. This 'missing the wood for the trees' is a blunder but that is the learning curve. Indian labour market was reputed to be singularly devoid of skills and productivity. It is so because of lack of sophistication and exposure to  better things of life. Budgetary mismanagement forced on the central banking system resulted in excessive printing of currency in the mistaken belief that this short time measure will even out with better performance in the next year, and remained a pipe dream. This set off low growth (3 1/2 to 6 1/2 % nicknamed Hindu rate of growth) and back-breaking inflation drained the wealth of average Indian. Per capita income corrected to inflation registered an all round fall. private sector which by then come into their own, profitted from the regime of scarcities and rationing. The few goods on offer were shoddy. Export potential and growth in that were near to single digit. Only in 1992 the tide was reversed when prime minister P.V.Narasimha Rao bade good-bye and descended from the lofty commanding heights of socialist economy.

All in all, the planning process in the face of it, ran a successful hurdles race without capitulating to anybody. That was the best that could be. 1962 war dented the resolve but not destroyed it.

  3. It is not the Logic of Indian Plan derailed but it is the matter of India  betrayed and derailed by pro-communist China Administrators and so called visionary but lack vision, day dreaming Politicians, due to whom we lost land to not only China but to Pakistan too and running to US dominated UNO where results follow serving American interests of arms race every where to dispose off their old stock of arms production to do research and produce new ones; create destruction around the world by mutual fights by not direct involvement and give aid for re-construction and arms, enabling their economy to improve at the cost of others around the world who fight mindlessly in the name of culture, religion, ideology etc., (despite reading History but not learning from it eg. England not knowling a single of over 25 Indian languages but coming to India for trade could take advantage of internal disputes and rivalry gradually conquered the whole country from those who approached them for help but lost to the same Indian when they united together with one sole purpose of Independance; which strength again weakened due to partion in name of religion and deprivation of economic growth due to wars and arms race; which money could have been spent on education, research and industrialisation & commerce benefitting Western nations in all fronts. The Panchatantra Tale of 2 cats fighting for sharing a bread and the intervening monkey eating the whole lot). Peace in and  countries around in world will lead to prosperity of all, which makes difficult for one to continue to dominate and dictate its interests,
