  1. Actually, the government didn't drive the protesters off. Rather, it mowed them down by running them over with tanks.

  2. No comment about that. I wil tell the same thing about China in other questions. Chinese government doesn't care about their own people or their welfare. They just care about power over their own people and  over the rest of the world.

Tianamen Square is a scene that will never be forgot for thousand of people who demanded freedom and democracy. The government will do all they can to stop any protest, even if it is necessary to use weapons and tanks against their own people. They just don't care.

  3. Is a Very Cruel World out there, yeah they ansewrs with a preventive forces against protest and censor journalist, secret jail, secret trial and without lawyers, no defense at all, this sound like Guantanamo to me or USA abolish of civil rights in USA or England or Israel, Guess we don't have a Right to call China for violations, because is a daily practice today by any Goverment, specially by USA (?) were any preventive attack is justified ! and give no explanations at all, like Colombia ! so why one is Ok but others is Not ?

is a Cruel World out there, but cinism won't fix Human Right in this World.-

  4. d historic pic of demonstrator confronting a tank

  5. e. by using military force to kill protesters in the square

  6. The answer is "d".

However, the situation in Tiananmen Square occurred over a few weeks.  At times there was much hope that a peaceful conclusion to the protests would be achieved and that communist China would go the way of the Eastern European countries.  That definitely did not happen, rather the Chinese governement took time to barricade  the square, surrounding the protesters so that they couldn't leave and then mowed them down.  To this day it remains unknown how many were murdered in the square.  Then the Chinese government cleaned up the square, (it was as if they hired the "cat-in-the-hat" you know the one that fixed up the house just before mom got home).  They filled in all those bullet holes, mopped up the blood and guts and cleaned up the tank track marks and the tourists didn't miss a beat.  You can probably see a few thousand tourist pics posted on Flikr right now.

  7. Like NY's Mayor Bloomberg did to anti-war protesters at the Republican convention.

They were shot at and imprisoned.
