it was tupac and biggie and it really wasn't an east west thing it was more of a pac big thing and pac happened to be on the west and biggie happened to be in the east

Pac and Biggie started hatin eachother after Tupac was shot in NY and 2pac created the Outlawz group and Biggie had Junior M.A.F.I.A., two groups which began to hate eachother. Listen to Hit Em Up by 2Pac and Outlawz. First song to rip completely on the east side where pac disses everybody including the entire Bad Boys Ent. Label Staff. Media caught on and it went all down hill from there
