How did the Hindenburg get the hydrogen??

All i wanted to know is how did the Germans create such great quantities of Hydrogen in the 1900's to fill the Hindenburg?

How long did it take to create it?

  1. Electrolysis.  This isn't rocket science; all you need is electricity.


  2. Most likely by the same process that was used during the Civil War. The method was invented by Professor T.S.C.Lowe. He invented the water gas process by which large amounts of hydrogen gas could be produced from steam and charcoal. His inventions and patents on this process and ice making machines made him a millionaire.
