  1. Lido: The italian word is derived from the Latin litus meaning a shore...and was borrowed from the famous bathing resort of Venice and came to be used throughout Europe.

    The Lido deck on ships are usually the "open deck", the one with the swimming pool.


  2. Lido is usually the pool deck, or associated with water.

  3. Lido is Italian and means "beach". I think the connection should be obvious.
