How did the Spanish Flu start?

How did it start, how many did it kill, why was it so bad and why do so many people know so little about it?

it started in 1918.  I had to go to cummins, so i strapped an onion to my belt (which was the style at the time).  Except we didn't have any of those white onions because of the war, so i had to use a big yellow onion.  Anyways, i strapped an  onion to my belt (which was the style at the time), and went to cummins.  To my utter disbelief, everyone was dead!  And so i went back to my house.  The only reason that so many people do not know much about it is because I was the only survivor and i never told anyone.
