How did the Spanish Settlers treat the native americans?

The Spanish were the worst group of colonials in terms of how they treated the natives. The French got along with them fairly well. The English, and later Americans, had their ups and downs. Disputes that arose usually had to do with the colonists settling in areas the Indians considered their own. But the Spanish embarked on campaigns of systematic extermination and enslavement for financial gain. They murdered millions looking for gold, and forced tens of thousands to work as slaves in their Californian missions and farms.
