  1. I think what surprised most non-americans is the fact that if the CNN pictures of the disaster weren't captioned, you'd have thought it was in Africa and not the US.

No idea how you can claim you're a superpower when you have yes, super rich, but also super poor. Something we don't have in Europe. I categoriSe the USA as just another Brazil (devoloping country)...polarised levels of living standards between rich and poor. I mean...you have shanty towns there for God's sake.

  2. It's not the job of the U.S. government to respond to natural disasters.

Check your Constitution.  It's not part of their job.

If you want to understand what really went wrong, start with the corrupt and incompetent mayor of New Orleans (Bush pleaded with him to evacuate the city before Katrina hit.  Nagin ignored him.) and the hopeless idiot governor, Kathleen Blanco.

THESE people had the legal and moral responsibility to act, before AND after Katrina.

They made a complete mess of it.

  3. Like the turtle in the Comcast commerical -Slowski.

  4. They didn't at first, then to 'help' the victims, they were given toxic FEMA trailers.

  5. It's was great chance for the government try out martial law with the gun confiscations

  6. The government did what they could but the damage was so extensive along hundreds of miles of coastline it was impossible for them to provide aid to everyone all at once. here is something to ponder - where was the rest of the world to help seeing as we drop everything to help them in natural disasters? How did the black man respond to save himself because i thought they did not trust the racist government according to rap songs. many lives were lost and I am just pondering some thoughts. more than likely it was not the federal government but crooked politicians in the state ill informing the amount of help needed (like new orleans mayor) who are at fault for that.

  7. Rather shabbily.  New Orleans is still a mess and people are still without homes there.  FEMA trailers were found out to be contaminated with formaldehyde (lots of people getting sick).

  8. by sitting on their asses.
