The wait for a player from Wales winning the Welsh Open will go on for at least another 12 months after none of the Welsh contingent managed to advance past the quarter-finals of the rankings event.

Ryan Day and Mark Willliams both got to the quarters; while Matthew Stevens reached the last 16 after beating Shaun Murphy. Coincidentally, the last Welsh player to win the tournament was Williams – back in 1999.
