Its just a microscopic photo don't be so strange.

He/she used a camera attached to the eye piece of the microscope. Most cameras can do this, if you position them right on the lens.  However, some specialized camera are better for taking crisp images.

I used to take photos of microscope lab stuff to study for quizzes and lab tests.
