  1. The British forbid the colonies from making manufactured goods, we sold our raw matrials to them then they made stuff and sold it back to us.

  2. The colonists depended on England for tea, coffee, cloth, and most manufactured items. It took a while for the colonists to be able to make their own goods.

Also England was where education and learning where. It took a while for America to write their own books and have universities.

  3. become dependent ???????   You think they started off independent ???  They were colonies ! Colonies of England.  England's laws and rule were still the rule, and their culture was still fresh from the old world, from England.  Independence happened later...they didn't "become" dependent.

  4. Britian made the colonies be suppliers of raw material, but did not allow them to manufacter anything, so they had to import their goods from Britain.

  5. American Revolution

  6. They were always dependent, and England use mercantilism to control the economics of their colonies.

One of the reasons the American Revolution happened was taxes, and those taxes were levied to pay for the French-Indian war which protected the original 13.

  7. They were dependent since day one. The English settlers brought their English traditions, beliefs, religion and even government to the new land and it was practically considered an extension of England.

  8. Initially, the colonies were settled by sponsored trading companies.  These trading companies existed for the express purpose of returning goods to a European market.

It was thought and generally understood at the time that these trading companies were just extensions of the countries where there home base was.

  9. 1) they were our roots (meaning our traditions, values, morals, and thats where we originated from)

    2) We were part of a mercantilism

-Example: We chopped down a couple of trees and sent it to Europe free of charge on a boat. They toned it up and sent it back to us in forms of furniture and then slapped a huge tax on it

    3) They never let us become our own government. We always had to pay our loyalty to the queen. Around the revolution, when we wised up in other words, there were still some queen supporters around (they were called Loyalists).

    4) They were our food and money
