  1. the contradiction arose 'cos of the megalomaniacal desires of the clergy.  they reinterpreted the word of christ to mean to be mean and neglect humanity and humanism.  they wanted total control, total subservience, total subjugation, total obedience which was simply agst the human spirit. religion is meant to bind but they divide! so in their haste to control, they forego all concepts of humanism.  utter blindness.  

    they went many steps further by delving into sciences - the world is flat!  such absurdity is simply agst common sense.  

    humanism was magnanimous. clergy was cloistered

    humanism was advancing,        clergy was retrogressing
