What context? Politically or geographical? What continent are you referring to?

Are you asking about the theory on the Earth's original state, Pangea, being one solid landmass? According to this theory, the land was one solid state and eventually broke off from itself and formed what we see now, having multiple continents. Of course this is a theory and until we know more, this is commonly accepted.
