  1. baseball is a freakin r****d contracts don't end in the middle of the year, poopster was rite. the reds put him on waiver wire and the dbacks picked him up.

  2. bas3ball!sl!fe....that's the stupidest answer i have ever heard....u couldnt be more wrong.......uncle unicorn is completely right so i wont add anything else, but i had to get in the fact that that was the most ignorant answer i have ever heard.....u have no idea what ur talking about bas3ball

  3. The dealine without waivers passed on July 31, so The D'Backs had to offer a trade and hope no other team would offer the Reds a similiar deal within 48 hours.

Typically, some one like the Dodgers, would nullify the deal by offering the Reds a deal simply to kill the D'Backs' 48 hour window so that the trade doesn't happen and the Dodgers stay in contention.

Obviously the Dodgers don't think highly of Dunn helping out a contending division rival, so they didn't squelch the trade.

  4. There's two trade deadlines. There's the regular deadline at July 31st and then there's a waiver deadline (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Leagu... at August 31st.

  5. I don't know all the intricacies to the waiver option, but I heard that another team can opt to block a waiver deal (the question arose why the Dodgers did not do this).

But the answers about the waiver trade, and it's deadline are correct.

  6. July 31 is the non waiver trade deadline. August 1- August 31 - trades can still be made. However, unrestricted trades during that period can only be made if all of the 29 other teams do not put a claim in for the player once he's put on waivers. In that case, he can be dealt anywhere by his team. If he's claimed? He can only be traded to THAT team or not at all. When the claim is made, the claiming team has 48 hours to work out a trade with the player's original club. If they can, he's traded. If not, the original team can either pull him back off waivers, or simply let him go to the team that claimed him.

  7. his contract ended.. so the dbacks picked him up from being a free agent..

  8. they acquired him off waivers
