Is this Philippines history month?  We've had an inordinate amount of questions about Rizal the last two weeks.

I'm beginning to think that the Philippines does a very poor job of teaching history, because so many of their students are being taught by the Yahoo Answers crowd.

Rizal left Catholicism, that's why he was unpopular with many clergy.

He was sent to Dapitan for exile, and built up the local economy and infrastructure while he was there, including a school that taught English.
