america was the runaway point for europeans who were suffering under the tyranical rule of the monarchs and the overwhelming control of the clergy.  life was stifling and escape to usa was the best alternative.  it heralded an age of industrialization which spurred lots of development in both erp and usa.  there were healthy competition and collaboration in creating new things to modernize life.  several wars between the kingdoms etc also led to mass migration
