  1. failure of vietnam war, student rebellion, and detant between soviet union and the US. all those effected civil rights movement different parts of the world


  2. With the voting rights act in place.  The focus was on voter registration and getting candidates elected to local offices.  Special focus on Sheriff positions

    One could argue that it widened its scope: that is, it focused less on specific issues, such as desegregation and voter registration, and more on white supremacy and generalized (institutionalized) racism.

    One could also argue that the focus of the movement did not change but rather the society around it did...
