  1. The ones from Australia and America swam there.

  2. The Beijing Olympic Organising Committee assigned a company called Peden from the UK to do this.  Apparently it was like a military operation - read all about it on William Fox-Pitt's website (http://www.foxpitteventing.co.uk/Olympic...

  3. There's a special equestrian teleporter based in Hong Kong... just zaps them up

  4. The horses get there by plane of course! They travel in the cargo area on normal passenger planes. They are put into special 'crates' before being taken out onto the tarmac and loaded on. It is such a common practice for racehorses to be flown around these days that professional horse transport companies are able to make things as smooth and easy as possible for the horses and their support crew

And actually the equestrian events at the 2008 games are not held in Beijing at all. Instead they are in Hong Kong, with the main venue at Sha Tin hosting all of the dressage and show jumping, The reason they are not taking place in Beijing is because horses are very susceptible to respiratory conditions, and it could not be guaranteed that the horses would be protected from disease in Beijing.

  5. They probably had better plane cabins than the people.

  6. The owners of the horses have planes especially built to accommodate the horses, like they will have a little stable built into the plane. The stable is actually just big enough for the the horse to sit and stand so that it won't move around too much.

  7. They fly!!

  8. The U.S. equestrian team’s horses arrive in Beijing about a week before the games. The horses probably have more frequent flyer miles than most people, as they travel approximately 30,000 miles by plane annually, according to Tim Dutta of Dutta Corporation, a horse transportation company.

Horses must arrive at the airport 10 hours early and be monitored in quarantine for five hours. They travel in stalls similar to horse trailers you’d see on the road. They travel on passenger flights as well as cargo flights.

A good article on this is here http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/24/sports...

  9. Many of them use special horse cargo planes that are equipped to also transport the horses. Here are some pics http://www.nbcolympics.com/equestrian/ph...

  10. they r flown in cargo planes and quarantined for around 3 weeks leading up to competion... so they know if they have contracted anything in the air from the flight. very risky for the horses to fly but it usually the quickest way
