These are really the main players of the foundations of the Industrial Revolution the thinkers and doers who refused to be satisfied. Most began as mine engineers hence the predomince of the Cornish connection, what with the tin mines etc. It was the development of the steam engine from nodding donkey to rotory power that saw the IR really kick off. However that would not have been possible without the better quality iron that came from Darby's technique of using coke made from coal, not charcole, and the expansion of the blast furnace technique. The ammount of coal mined was able to be increased due to the improved steam engines that allowed miners to pump out even deeper mines, and to lift the coal to the surface. So as the one requirement fed the other ,it in itself grew. A true revolutionary movement as it became circular.

The people mentioned are the main players of the IR and you should definitly research them. Be careful as there are sometimes families of them

IR begins in Britain because the land in Britain was better suited for grazing rather than growing food.  As a result, large landowners are not interested in having vast numbers of peasants farming the land they want vast numbers of sheep and a few shepherds.  So peasants are kicked off land, they move to cities, which concentrates labor and allows for industrialization.
