  1. On one level, it broke down some of the final barriers left over from the Studio System and The Breen Office who ran along with The Catholic Legion of Decency with their lists of (frankly juvenile)ideas about what could (and more importantly, could not)be shown on film and that included two people laying together on a bed and have you ever noticed the abscents of toilet in bathrooms in films from the period?Often, even married couples were made to sleep in twin beds and should they happen to be in bed together, the man had to have one foot on the floor(Like THAT ever stopped anybody) There was also the suggestion in the shower scene of nudity cleverly staged and shot. Some of the dialogue includes words like,"transvestite"which no doubt sent theatr-goers scuryying for a dictionary the minute they got home.

  2. I would say that it's THE slasher movie that spawned a thousand slasher movies. but the movies now pale in comparison to hitchcock's. "Psycho" was always imitated in different degrees....but never equalled.

  3. It was the first movie to show a flushing toilet.

    The shower scene.

    It's a classic!

  4. It added it's own killer mode and helped the genre of shock endings and not to mention *spoiler* the main draw actress was surprsing killed off the bat.  To each their own though about opinions.

  5. I don't believe it did.

  6. It didn;t, because directors could not fully replicate how Hitchcock really manipulated the audience
