  1. Good question.  They must have been listed by the local humans nearby as the early equivalent of "endangered".  Otherwise I don't see how they could have made it.

Polar bears are believed to have evolved to their present form about 100,000 years ago, and appear to be the only bear that actively hunts people.

And as you can guess, unarmed people are no match for a polar bear.  Whoever is taking pictures, has a rifle nearby.

Since folks are so concerned about diversity of species, how come no complaining about eradiation of the s***w fly, or smallpox?  Anyone feel guilty about killing mosquitoes by the trillions?  Malaria?

With the possible exception of a few species already headed towards extinction, mankind's best efforts to snuff out species  ... has been mostly an exercise in futility.

However I am grateful the buffalo was saved.  They make the most incredibly juicy and flavorful burgers.

  2. Interesting, why don't you ask them.

  3. Because most animals are very adaptive. This is the BS the Global Warming crowd don't want you to know about. Besides How dare you question the Liberal agenda? Just who the heck do you think you are? LOL

Keep asking questions! That is how we get to the truth!

  4. They didnt. They evolved into Vikingmon, then de-digivolved back into Polarbears.

  5. What is all this concern about the polar bear?    It's like it will be the end of the world if they become extinct.   The enviro-wackos are doing just fine without Woolly Mammoths, Sabertooth tigers, and Passenger Pigeons aren't they?   Aren't they still able to sit around drinking Merlot and deciding what they want to outlaw next?  Animals come and go, and there is nothing they can do about it.

  6. 27000 years ago the planet was still in a glacial and this entire period of glacial/interglacials is considered an ice age. So we are still currently in an Ice Age, and we have been for roughly 30 million years. The last interglacial (Eemian) ended about 115,000 years ago, and the last glacial ended about 10-15,000 years ago. So 27,000 years ago we were still in the midsts of a major glacial.

But if your contention is that Polar Bears have been through much warmer global temperatures, then you are correct on that point.

    Edit:

Warming can occur in glacials, and in fact some dramatic shifts in climate have occurred during some of the coldest periods of a glacial. Try doing a little more research than what is in that NG, and you will find that the last glacial (WIsconsin Glaciation) started roughly 115kya years ago and ended roughly 12kya.

As a side note: Interstadials are extended periods of milder cimate that occur during a glacial that are still too short (typically less than 10,000 years) and too cold to be considered an interglacial. On the other hand, stadials are extended periods of colder climate that occur during an interglacial and are of insufficient length and intensity to be considered a glacial.

  7. it wqasnt as intence back then.no cows being raised, no cars or fossil fuel burners, they had it easy

  8. they get up, eat c**p then sleep. thats how

  9. Because they were given a time period back then that was slow enough to adapt to.

Now, it's going too fast for the bears to adapt to.

  10. They ate things from shore and inland, pretty much the same thing they do every summer. Polar bears will eat just about anything, they do not survive on a diet of strictly seal. It just happens that seals taste better than most things they have the option of eating.

  11. They did fine since they exist today.
