It's in her family dynasty, and it passes down, when the Queen/King dies, and it then passes onto the next in line. Of course, the Windsor family, is the current line in the United Kingdom. The name Windsor was selected, to replace the German name, during times of war. The Queen, does not really rule, the United Kingdom of course, she is mainly a figurehead, who passes down her prerogative powers, to the Prime Minister. She could in theory, reclaim them at any time but the last time, a Monarch dissolved Parliament, and tried to rule the country themselves, they got beheaded, when a Civil War was fought, that Monarch was Charles I.
