I hadn't heard it called that, but He did recommend it and support it.  Especially after "O" said it won't work!

if you recall the original concept of "the surge" went against the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld philosophy of small forces and fast strikes....McCain was one of the early proponents of "strength through numbers" that was looked upon as "outdated" by Rummy and crew....

.....hmmm.....sounds like he was speaking from "experience" and knew what he was talking about......

....I guess he could have said it prettier.....but the people who fall for that stuff were still focused on "total withdrawal"
