  1. Hard to say, but a lot of these air heads need attention and blathering about the moon landings being a fake is one way to get it.

  2. capricorn one

  3. I heard that the original hoax starters were the Flat Earth Society.

  4. We were in the Cold War back then and the US was competing with the USSR!

  5. It originated from that wacky flat earth group.

  6. I think it comes from pictures of the American Flag posted on the moon and it looks like the wind is blowing. When in reality due to the vacuum of space the flag had contracted and that's why it looked crinkled.

  7. There was this TV show called "Did We Land On The Moon" that really sparked the mass conspiracy theory.

But largely I think was due to people, though smart in one way, are just dumb in another.  They see something out of place, but they don't fully understand the whole physics of it.

The flag for example, the greatest piece of evidence that so called proves that the lunar landings were hoaxed.  They knew enough that the flag would not flap in a vacuum, like on the surface of the moon, but they didn't know enough that the astronauts were handling the flag, moving it around causing it to flap.

Or even the shadow problem.  If the lander made a black shadow on the moon, how come the astronauts space suits were lit?  They never thought about reflected sunlight off of the moon's surface.

The difference in shadow lengths.  That would be viable IF the moon were flat.  But it's not.  It has bumps and hills that would account for the differences in lengths.  Like here on Earth.

  8. it's just a bunch of nuts out there.  And please don't call it a theory

  9. have you ever actually watched the programme on it ? its intresting

    flag blowing ?

    shadows ?

it was a big FAKE because of the space race and america didnt want to lose out !

  10. Its people like yourself discussing this particular subject, that keeps these non believers in the race Its an argument, for argument sake  They have nothing better to do. Just Ignore them.

If there was any doubt at all... The Russians would have been the first to prove it.

  11. I have found that people question the moon landing for the following reasons:

    1. They know nothing about science.

    2. They are too ignorant to see the obvious scientific truth behind the moon landing.

    3. They fall victim to these "documentaries" that are aired on the fox channel, and on YouTube and are caught in a web of misleading information and flawed logic.

    4. They get a high of off thinking that they know something the aren't supposed to.

It is a real shame. Before I started yahoo answers which wasn't that long ago, I knew that there were people that questioned the moon landing. But I had no idea that so many people did! When I first started yahoo answers, there was the flood of questions about the moon landing. It was insane!

These people are mostly American. They say that this country sucks, to which I reply "why not move to another one?". There are a lot of problems with our current government, there's no doubt about that, but America is over all, a great country. It is one of the very few democratic nations, and one of the most powerful nations in the world. The one thing I would like to see is more of wide variety of political parties... really all we have are republicans and democrats. Although my parents are very much republican, I planet on registering independent when the time comes because I don't completely agree with either side. But this is besides the point.

The moon-hoaxers have these AWFUL ideas that don't make sense half the time. I watch their little videos just for fun because it ammuses me how stupid they are. On this one video, I don't know what point this guy had!

This one time I posted some comments on a moon landing video with my YouTube account (I no longer visit YouTube anymore because of all the ignorant people there) and so this guy sends me this message saying that I have some sort of "n**i admiration" because I know the moon landing was real. The term "n**i admiration" isn't something you just through around like he did. I was completely thrown by it. He had no evidence, yet he was comparing me to Hitler and Stalin and Kruschef (sorry I spelled that wrong) because I knew the moon landing was real. I presented all of the proof, but he was too ignorant to understand. It got to a point where I just didn't bother to respond. He was just so ignorant and rude that there was no point in even *attempting* to communicate with him. I even said that the Russians would've spotted it, and then he was so ignorant that he denied the Cold War!

The one piece of advice I can offer is, don't get fooled by these lunatics out there. The moon landing was real. Period. There is no debate. One of the incontrovertible pieces of evidence is that we left laser reflectors on the moon. Rover technology simply didn't exist back then. And all the their silly "conspiracy theories" crumble when faced with science and logic.

  12. It was to do with the alleged reflection off the astronaut's helmet, plus the flag giving the appearance of having fluttered whereas it would be totally still on an airless Moon.

Like many conspiracy theories, it requires an unthinkable number of people to be in on the act. Don't you think that at least one of them would have blown the whistle by now and make a fortune off TV and newspapers?

  13. Some people think everything is a conspiracy.

  14. It came about because a guy named Bill Kaysing, who had once worked as a librarian for a NASA contractor, decided he wanted to embarrass the U.S. government for its involvement in the Vietnam war and its treatment of veterans.  In about 1974 he wrote a book called "We Never Went to the Moon."  Even though he had no training in engineering or photographic analysis (his training was in English literature), he made a pseudoscientific case -- liberally sprinkled with unfounded claims such as that the Dutch newspapers reported the "hoax" -- that ended up fooling a considerable number of people.

Having found his niche, Kaysing spent the rest of his life proposing weird theories such as that the Challenger accident was staged to kill Christa McAuliffe because she didn't agree to keep silent about whether stars were visible in space.

Subsequently many people with lots of free time and no credentials or training have tried to pokes holes in or explain away Apollo evidence with kooky, unscientific theories.  It has proven to be a gold mine for fleecing the gullible and paranoid.

  15. probably originated from a bunch of drunk redneck hicks

  16. The flag is moving on the moon and there is no wind up there so people speculated.

  17. There are *Idiots* everywhere who want to try to 'make a name for themselves' who will go to any means to achieve their goals.

Such are those who try to give some kind of 'proof ' that the landing on our satellite, the Moon, by U.S. astronauts never happened.

I watched with great fascination the TV coverage of the landing on the Moon and saw (It WAS Neal Armstrong, wasn't it?) touch down with his foot, as the first human to place foot on the Moon and announce those "Words that will Go Down in History" -- "One small step for Man -- One Giant Step for Mankind!"  Oh, Dear God!  I almost burst out into tears with *pride* for my country.  It was *TRUE* -- it *HAD* to be true! I REFUSE to believe that *ANY* of that live telecast was 'fake' in *ANY* way!

  18. Because don't you know? We can't trust that America can actually do anything right. There must always be someone there to critique any and every aspect about America, because to be the least bit optimistic is practically un-American now.  *rolls eyes*

  19. Some things in the video look fake. For exmaple the American flag is moving in the wind. Wait. What wind? There is no wind in space..

  20. I know...but now I wonder.

They were trying to beat Russia to the punch-- so what if.....?

  21. Probably helped that the moon landing was a very amazing thing. People have a hard time believing amazing things, and they try to find evidence to support their feelings.

  22. type in "Loose Change Final Cut" in google video.... and see why people are questioning what is told by the media...

mainstream media is primarily a propaganda arm for the whitehouse... the former public relations officer of Pres. Bush stated that himself

look up the facts... there are wayyy more that disprove than prove...

  23. well you certaintly arent the brightest bulb in the bunch.

it was the MOON LANDING; nothing like that had ever been done before and ALL WE HAD was a skimpy video! of course people doubted it!
