  1. well, the universe formed about 13.7 billion years ago. (the most prevalent theory is the big bang theory)

the earth formed a little less than 6 billion years ago. there is a process called accretion, which is most likely how our planet formed. it's like building something out of play-dough. rocks hit each other and some stuck together by gravity. so, after time, the rock began to get bigger; because of the gravity we have, it smoothed out the holes, leaving it essentially round. there is a theory that a large rock hit our earth again and that's where the moon came from-we know this because of the similar atmospheric rock on the layers of the moon.

we know the earth was here that long ago, through rocks and the history that is given in it.

after the moon was blasted off, the oceans were a mess (the moon controls the tides-gravity) and the days and nights were changing like crazy. days were hours, you know?

and, because the moon began to move out-it still is today so our day is getting longer by milliseconds per year or so-the earth's atmosphere began to stabilize and that's when our earth started becoming more like what we see today.

  2. Well, God created the earth didn't he? :]

There really is no way to prove anything is that old, but maybe it could be! I don't know when he created the earth, after all, us humans don't know everything!

  3. The scientific evidence shows that the solar system (and thus our planet, Earth) formed about 4.55 billion years ago.

  4. Billions of years ago... about 6 billion, to be exact... the world was a GAS
