Question:

How did they trace that MySpace account back to Lori Drew?

Did she just confess or what? Did she go under a legitimate email address? The IP address doesn't reveal very much - just location such as state, town, sometimes neighborhood, but not the person who did it - so how do they know?

At some point, she obviously admitted it so I also want to know why is this woman not in jail?

  1. Having a MySpace page isn't illegal, so what should she be in jail for?

Lori Drew didn't kill Megan, Megan killed herself.

While what she did was amazingly immature for an adult, there are no crimes she can be accused of. She hurt Megan's feelings, and Megan's coping skills were bad and she decided to end her life over a fake boy she had never met.

It would make just as much sense to arrest Megan's parents for not raising her with more self-esteem.

I'm not saying what Lori Drew did was right, but it wasn't illegal, either -- any more than it is illegal for a "real" person to break up with you online.

  2. The idiot created a myspace account with an email address provided by her server. That's how.

She isn't in jail because she didn't kill her, but now what she did is construed as harassment in that particular town, but not in the state or the U.S. She is a lousy human being, I agree, but she didn't technically commit a crime.
