How did this person get a CA driver license w/out green card or ssn?

Is this person illegal? This person came to the U.S. 7 years ago on a student visa. First of all, when do student visas expire? Since then, she has never gone back to her home country because she knows for a fact that she will be unable to be readmitted to the states. She does not have a social security number, she does not have a green card. She probably does have another number so she can pay tax.

Considering all these facts, how did she get a driver's license, a job, an apartment, a bank account, and how did she get into a university?

I know the employer is probably the same race as her, therefore hired her anyway, but why is it that the dmv, the apartment managers, bank, the school don't care that she doesn't have the important things that a us resident needs?

  1. She doesn't need a green card or a SSN. She has a student visa (many of which are valid for the duration of one's study). People with student visas are more than capable of getting a bank account, a job, a place to live, and passing our driver's test. She is not a U.S. resident, therefore she does not need the same documentation that we do. She is here temporarily. -*D*

  2. California baby, they love illegals!

Bank of America caters to them.

They are leaving Arizona because if you hire them you can lose your business.

But, we do not grow lettuce like Ca.

  3. Individuals on a student visa can get a social security number, but their social security card typically states that they can only work with INS authorization.  You do not need a green card (or even a social I think) to get a license, you just need to show proof of residency in the state.

Student visas typically expire at the end of the degree, but you do NOT need a visa to remain in the U.S. You only need the student visa to get back in the U.S. once you leave.  This means that even if your student visa has expired, you can remain in the U.S. as long as your other paperwork (typically a student's I-20) is valid. The I-20 is what is important to keep you in the U.S., the visa is what's important to get you in the country once you leave.

I'm not sure I understand why a school accepting her prevents others from being accepted into the school as well. She was obviously accepted into the school and provided with a visa and I-20 to attend the school.  Schools track all of their international students and make sure they have the necessary paperwork (of course, they often lose track of them once they graduate).

  4. there are so many ways, just lie on the applications, for $50 bucks you can get any forged document in California.

Apply for a birth certificate of some one who has died and is about your age, You can apply for all of the social security documents and driver licenses

  5. You don't have to be a resident to obtain all these things, that's why. Banks are happy to take ANYONES money. Apartment complexes are happy to rent to ANYONE who pays the rent on time. Drivers licenses are avail. to ALL who pass the test, whether they are here to stay or not. (and really, would you prefer visitors to drive without one? or insurance?) Sorry but it's the greed of every American that lets them stay past their welcome.

  6. In California all your dreams can come true.

  7. and why do u care just get a life god

  8. You did say that this was California, didn't you?
