  1. Societies such as this are generally conquered by some form of imperial power (whether a monarchy, a dictatorship, a democracy or any other style of organized governmental apparatus).  Subsequently economic changes are put into place, locals are hired to do the grunt work, certain profiteering opportunists get mid-level authority positions and a general way of life is imposed upon the education of the young, whether for good or ill.

  2. Tribal societies are more primitive than most societies today.  Tribal societies don't "develop" from modern societies.  In most of the world, tribal societies came and went long ago.

That's the problem.  These people aren't yet in the 20th Century, much less the 21st.

  3. One word: cooperation

A concept our current administration can't even grasp...much less spell.

And someone tell me why being in the "21st century" is such a wonderful thing?

  4. The tribal societies never did develop. They are still fighting since day one and it will continue forever. They never will get along.

  5. The concept of the nation-state emerged from the Treaty of Westphalia in the 17th century.  The modern borders were drawn by the nations that colonized what we now call developing nations.  More often than not these lines were drawn without rhyme or reason.  For example, if you look at a map of Africa you notice that Chad pretty much in the shape of a square, while a variety of different nomadic societies call the nation home and wander through it.
