Hmm, i am gonna guess that people spoke different langueagesg and then when they learned lets say, idk, english, they spoke it kinda funny because of their old language,and then whoever grew up listening to those accents like, developed the accent and it just kept passing on, like, if you have a boston accent or watever?

In England people used to speak different languages, English evolved from these languages usually when people had contact for trade etc. So the accents are the remains of the languages we spoke centuries ago. Some northern English dialect words are understood in Scandinavia but not in southern England.

    When English was spoken in colonies the locals would speak English with an accent from their own language. Their children may have spoken English as a first language but with their parents' accents. These have now become the accents of places like India, Ghana and  Zimbabwe.
